When the new year rolls around, I know it is very normal for many people to come up with resolutions, hopes or goals for the year ahead. There is a hope that comes with the freshness of a new year and hopefully a new season, and this tends to give people more drive and motivation to do the things that they deem important, and finally make those tough decisions they could not before.
As we have now transitioned into 2021, I want to take a moment and encourage you with three things you can do this year God willing that will add positively to your life and hopefully bring you more peace than anxiety.
First, be more intentional.
One of the things I continue to find deep value in is being intentional. When we approach our lives from a place of intentionality, it indicates that the spaces and situations we are entering into, we are doing so with purpose. When we are intentional in our relationships we feel more connected, more in tune and attuned with those around us, and we feel more fulfilled and understood. Being intentional takes effort, but I promise you it’s worth it.
Second, meditate/pray.
There is beauty and necessity in stillness. Life can get very busy and our schedules can sometimes leave us in a frenzy. When we prioritize busyness more than solitude we can find ourselves struggling with more anxiety and worry than we would if we did otherwise. Creating intentional space, room and time to feed your spirit, to pray, spend time with The Lord, and be still before Him is a gift and is one we can often take for granted. Lean into stillness this year, lean into Jesus.
Finally, journalling or exercise.
There is something very special about getting our thoughts onto paper. Ever so often I have found it to be like a therapeutic release for me, especially when I’m feeling overwhelmed and I want or need to just process. For some, journalling may feel inauthentic to them, and if you are one of those people, I’d encourage you to do something like exercise instead. It releases endorphins and also acts as a means of release of heaviness. Both of these means allows you to pour energy and time into yourself and your well-being, and you deserve to do so!
As always, please be kind and gracious to yourself through the process. It won’t be perfect and you may mess up sometimes, and that is okay. Get right back up and keep going! You’ve got this & God’s got you! ♥️✨
